Which payment gateways support VietQR, and how do you tell real support from a logo?

Updated 2026-10-14

Short answer

Many Vietnam payment gateways list VietQR, but real support means the gateway generates a dynamic VietQR code for each order, carrying the amount and an order reference, and notifies you automatically when the bank transfer arrives. A static QR or a plain bank account number shown at checkout is not the same thing: it forces you to match incoming transfers to orders by hand.

What VietQR is

VietQR is Vietnam’s national QR payment standard, operated by NAPAS, the national payment switch. A customer scans the code in the app of any participating bank, confirms, and the money moves as an interbank transfer. Because almost every Vietnamese bank participates, VietQR reaches most people with a bank account, without cards.

Static QR vs dynamic QR

A static QR encodes only the receiving account. The customer types the amount and, if they remember, a reference. A dynamic QR is generated per order and pre-fills the amount and a reference the customer cannot easily change. For an online business, dynamic QR is what makes automatic reconciliation possible.

  • Static QR: one code for everyone, manual amount, manual matching.
  • Dynamic QR: one code per order, amount and reference pre-filled, automatic matching.

Five checks for “VietQR support”

Ask the gateway to show you each of these in its sandbox:

  • A unique QR per order, with the amount pre-filled when scanned in a real bank app.
  • An order reference that appears in the payment notification you receive.
  • A signed webhook when the transfer is credited, and a status query as fallback.
  • Clear handling of underpayment, overpayment and expired codes.
  • Whether a company incorporated outside Vietnam can use it.

Where CVPay fits

These are the product facts you can rely on:

  • Pay-ins support three kinds of method: bank transfer, QR code and e-wallet.
  • Its local fiat markets are Vietnam and the Philippines.
  • Payment status changes are sent as webhook callbacks, and every callback is signed.
  • Merchants are onboarded after a KYB review. A sandbox environment is opened first, and the sandbox is isolated from production.
  • One merchant account and one API cover all three currencies.

Statements about CVPay on this page are limited to verifiable product facts. Ask us for anything not listed here before relying on it.

Frequently asked questions

Do customers need a specific bank to pay by VietQR?
No. VietQR works across participating Vietnamese banks, which covers most of the banking population.
When should I release goods after a VietQR payment?
Only after the gateway confirms the payment, by signed webhook or status query. Do not rely on the customer’s screenshot or the redirect back from the payment page.
Can I just show my bank account QR at checkout?
You can, but you will reconcile every payment by hand. A gateway with dynamic QR and webhooks automates that.
